About
“It does nothing for me”
I once had this said about my work, at the time it was hard to read but then on reflection I thought actually it’s brilliant. It made me really think about why I make and step into the studio. It’s wonderful when it does do something for the viewer, but my work is personal and a narrative of my journey as an artist.
As my practice has developed I’m more interested in the process of making. My work is a response to life, my own environment, conversations and relationships. The work is as spontaneous as any work can be, when I’m lost in making I’m often reacting to thoughts that have followed me into the studio. I like the use layers and text to make the work and I have no set plan each day when I step into the studio, only to make.
I’ve exhibited in the UK and internationally in recent years, at the moment I’m focused on building a new body of work.
Studio visits are welcome but strictly by appointment only. If you would like to visit please contact me directly.
